Volunteer Park Conservatory | Seattle Greenhouse Wedding
Finding your wedding venue can be exciting, as it’s the first big decision you’ll make for your wedding. There are so many things to consider – location, ambiance, and features that are included in each venue that the hunt for the perfect wedding backdrop can at times, feel overwhelming. Don’t stress… I gotchu boo! I’m here to give you a peak inside one of the most unique, convenient and weatherproof wedding venues in Seattle – Volunteer Park Conservatory! This Victorian greenhouse (sitting pretty in Seattle) has a warm, lush and cozy environment for intimate weddings and is one of the most beautiful locations for your Seattle wedding. I love it because:
1. THE OBVIOUS — IT’S A GREENHOUSE!
Everywhere you look, there’s a different backdrop for photos. Being inside the greenhouse, you can be surrounded by all types of flowers, greenery, and even a cactus room! It’s essentially like having an outdoor wedding but inside. The array of flowers give a beautiful pop of color that bring the romance and cozy feelings alive! I love the variety of photos you can get, all within close proximity.
2. PREVENTS ONE OF THE CLASSIC WEDDING DAY FEARS — RAIN
The convenient thing about getting married at a venue like this is that you won’t have to worry about weather playing a role in how the whole day plays out! And don’t forget about the sunlight still shining in all the glass windows to light up the day. We have a ton of rainy days in Seattle, but you’ll never have to stress about the rain here.
3. PLANTS HELP ELEVATE YOUR MOOD!
Plants are not just visually beautiful… The effects they have on you are beautiful too! Any kind of plant will give you a more peaceful state of mind. They also get rid of toxins from the air, boost your oxygen levels, and alleviate stress. Who wouldn’t want to surround themselves with this kind of natural magic on their wedding day?? Plants = a feeling of calmness = no stress on your wedding day – huzzah!
EMILY & JOSÉ’S CEREMONY
Wow. Emily and José are really special and I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to capture their love for each other in a unique way! I loved how they blended their cultural and religious traditions together to make a ceremony that was a perfect representation of who they are. Instead of having a traditional officiant lead the ceremony, José and Emily opted to have each of their parents lead a portion of the eventEmily said it best – “I loved how different yet similar each of our parent’s words were. After our parents spoke, we said our vows, then exchanged rings and broke a glass for good measure.”
José and Emily had a bilingual ceremony, and Emily practiced delivering her vows in Spanish for José’s family to feel connected and included. There wasn’t a dry pair of eyes in the greenhouse (including mine) and let me tell you, ALL the feels were felt..
Adding to the uniqueness of this wedding day, there was a little secret between them before the actual wedding. “José drove us to Alki Beach, where we jumped in Puget Sound in our version of a Mikvah. A Mikvah is in Jewish tradition, a bath of natural water in which you cleanse yourself for spiritual purity. I’m not sure if we really achieved ritual purity from Puget Sound waters but it was refreshing and adventurous and a fun moment we shared just the two of us that day.”
